Fla members..Are ypu preparing?
How much work/preparing are you doing for this (prolly no more than a bad TS) tropical storm?
Insurance co's say if you are not boarded up, TS, no pay'ie. I guess I'll have to put them up, hate like hell doing it though. m |

Shtf preps and hurricaine preps are identical. I've been 100% ready for a storm since Feb. Yesterday I went to Home Depot:eek: to pick up a new garbage can for my home. When I saw 40-50 people in line with generators, I quickly turned back around....I wonder if they'll be scrambling for silver when the dollar crumbles.

Floridians stock supplies as Ernesto nears
POSTED: 9:48 p.m. EDT, August 28, 2006 PEMBROKE PINES, Florida (AP) -- Diane Salmon rummaged through cookware Monday in the camping-supply aisle at a Target store, hundreds of miles from a churning Tropical Storm Ernesto. Her cart held plastic utensils, water, pasta and a small propane-powered stove. Like many South Florida residents, she was determined to avoid repeating past struggles for supplies, and to be capable of making a hot meal even if the power goes out. "I've got four kids and a husband at home," Salmon said. "We learned last year, you get sick of tuna fish and peanut butter on crackers really fast."..... http://www.cnn.com/rssclick/2006/WEA...cnn_topstories |
Re: Fla members..Are ypu preparing?
Hurricanes are just another fact of life for me. Everything I prepare for is real, so are hurricanes, so like WyldWil it's no change for me. However, as Ponce says, "to be ready is to not be." There's stuff I wish I had that I don't but I am as ready as I'll ever be.
As far as shutters go I'm a fan of the steel accordian style that run in tracks. They're expensive but they're fairly convenient, quick and useful in the advent of riots or other potential unpleasantries. My grandparents use theirs to help secure their home when they're away on vacation. How are things down your way? I got married in Miami, I used to stay in North Bay. Parts of the city are definately the sucks but there's still a lot of good to be found down there if you look around, too. It's too bad much has changed for the worse over the years, it isn't the same town my great grandmother lived in. I miss SFL, but they drained my swamp and can't seem to sell us down the river quick enough. |
